Cross posted with encouragement - please take part.

As a member of the SDCA Health and Genetics Committee, I would like to
announce that now, in our 4th month of our new Health Survey, we would like
to open up the survey to members in other countries. Please state your name
and where you are from in the correct fields provided when you open the
study on line---each country/region's replies will be kept separate in order
to avoid bias created by different diets, climates, veterinary practices,
etc. The North American data will be analyzed first, with other
countries/regions to follow. Please help our beloved breed by filling out
the survey on line or on paper.

Go to www.deerhound.org (the official SDCA website) and on the home page
left hand side, click on Health issues. This will take you to a page where
New Health Survey is listed at the top of the page. Click on that to get to
the on line survey, and also to a link to print out a pdf file of the survey
if you would like to do it on paper and mail your results to our Chairman
Dr. John Dillberger whose address is provided.

In order not to be overwhelmed, I have suggested to breeders that they fill
out the survey for the dogs they kept, first, and foremost, and that they
can notify their puppy buyers to fill out the forms themselves, or provide
the necessary information to the breeder. This survey is NOT ONLY LIMITED
to breeders, but to anyone who has owned a deerhound since 1996. Whether
you've had 20 deerhounds that are show champions, or 1 wonderful house pet,
we want all possible data.

Please note that on the list of Diseases, at the very end, there is a series
of codes (or "diseases") marked For the Owners of Spayed Bitches. This is
so that we can get an idea of the complication rate during spay, and so if
your bitch had an uncomplicated spay, please remember to add the code for
that (#215) when you list Diseases.

Thank you to all who have participated so far, and welcome to our
international List members whom we are inviting to join us. PLEASE CROSS

Thanks Sid for your informations.

I had received information over this health survey last week over the Australian list from Nat with e-mail.

I had sent my answers online over the link from SDCA.

Best regards
Joerg and Yoki dh:)

Thanks Sid for this information, I've completed the survey for Ben. Probably not a lot of good as he's been blessed with good health so far, hope it continues.
