Mother nature must be on drugs lately.

One day well over 8" of snow. Less than 2 days later it's all gone as temps hit 59F. 24 hours later the polar vortex has temps of 4F. A few days of extreme cold with a bit of warming and now today in the low 60's. Norms for this time of year should be 20's and highs in the 30's.

At least the girls had a good day today. The extreme cold had them curled up in the house for the most part so today's warmth had them flying free in the .....
wait for it .....
MUD.
The warmth also had them getting a good bath to get rid of all the mud. A good breakfast and three content hounds slept like babies.

Oh how lovely!

The garden here is still bare. I'm hoping that the temperature swings we're having do not cause the cherry trees to blossom early. If they flower too early a frost will just kill off the buds and then no cherries come June.

Great photo, must brighten up the day to see some signs of color n spring on the way. I mentioned to San that I noticed a tiny change in the color of things today in the midlands. Roll on Spring :)

I really hope you're all right that springs on it's way but don't set your hopes to high! It's still only the middle of January and there's no snowdrops here in Shropshire yet let alone daffodils! Remember it can still snow in the UK up until Easter! According to the Met Office there are hints of a very cold spell to come!

If you're all talking of North America then yes I hope that extreme cold has gone!

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed though. :)

Another polar vortex has come and should slowly leave. With all the minus 0C temps this month, it just makes you want to .....

Hi all those freezing people, how would you like to swap for 40 plus degrees. In South East Australia it has been a very hot January, many days in a row over 40 degrees. At the moment it is in the high thirties in Victoria and South Australia.
PS I have a new little puppy to play with, his name is Kaid

Welcome to the forum Laird. Glad to have you and your new pup Kaid with us.

You are so right. Our winter is freezing us; while your summer is baking you. For all in the world, be safe as mother nature continues to throw the crazy weather at us.

Laird, sounds like you have a wonderful family surrounding you.

Have the temperatures dropped for you to something more reasonable?

We're still in Mother Nature's crazy grasp. Sunday was 53F and beautiful then cold with over 8" of snow the very next day. There's another winter storm in the works but not before temps rise above normal and then plunge once again.

Sigh....

Hi, we had two cooler days and the temperature is rising again, to be at 40 degrees at the weekend with not much relief in sight I'm sorry to say. Young Kaid is entered in a few shows but he won't be going if it is to hot. We are looking forward to autumn and winter, and Yoerg send a blast of cold air please.

Looks like Mother Nature is still at it. Yesterday's temp was over the 80F mark. This morning it was 32F which a good inch of ice/snow on the car. Mr. Squirrel would like to say....
