Weather was created by Joerg Yoki
Hello,

I have read this information.
I hope all have enough firewood in UK and Europe.

Link/ Source: www.express.co.uk/news/uk...ed-for-November
Citation:
"Worst winter for decades: Record-breaking snow predicted for November !
Forecasters last night warned the entire country is set for a horror freeze which will bring brutal winds and fierce blizzards.

Temperatures have already started to plunge as a swathe of cold air from the Arctic has swept across the UK in the past few days.

The first long-range forecasts warn of "recordbreaking snowfall" next month. ... ...." END

We have an old wives tale in England that if the Autumn fruits yield a good crop, which has happened this year, then it is a sign of a hard winter to come

The danish weather service is most reluctant in making long term prognosis, nevertheless they did. And even if it is a very vague prognosis, it does seem to confirm the prognosis already quoted.

This morning Ihad a food delvery for the dogs, whatever comes, the will not need to starve.

Firewood: Check.
Doors and windows in order: Check.
Snow shovel: Check.
Roof and walls: Check.
Winter boots: Opps!

We have that here as well. If the Rowan tree has lots of berries early then it's a sign of a harsh winter...
The Rowan was also planted in Scotland near houses to ward off evil.

Good tune Brodie.
I used to play it quite often when I played in a pipe band. :-)

Now that takes me back a bit as this was one of the songs I used to have to sing at family events when I was young (and not so young.) Having moved to the deep south I haven't sung it in years. We also had the Rowan tree at home in Scotland and also put one in here "for good luck" but had to take it down recently as it had grown too big....better get another one in!
Enjoyed listening to the pipe band!

I have a grape vine growing and normally there are only a few very small grapes on it. This year it has loads of grapes and they are large and very juicy. I'll be making wine from them. Also loads of blackberries and apples and damsons. It will be interesting to see if we do get a severe winter!

With that weather prognosis in mind, have some of you considered to take special measures to meet an unusual strong winter?

Fo rmy part I have considered to build up some storage of canned food items, justin case that infrastructure and transportation should become unawailable for some period of time. Then, I have some old windos that are not that good isolated, I have listed the things I will need to make additional frames with plexiglas for these windows, so that less heat will be lsot that way.

Hello,

Kim thanks for your notes and information.

I will buy grain for the birds and will mount the snow plow on my compact-tractor.

I am still considering whether to buy an emergency generator.
