But unless those species are protected by law...it's fair game.. ;)

I agree that they can't be prosecuted but I don't believe that it's "fair game". It's certainly morally not right.

The American Indians respected the Wolf as a valued spirit. They lived on Buffalo and owned Horses and both of these were undoubtable targetted by Wolves but if you had said that the Wolves should be killed to protect their stock and Buffalo they certainly would not have agreed with that.

Hello Conny,

You have a very good opinion over the wolves in the wild.

According to information from WWF give is currently 5 wolves in Austria.

Basically..I have no problem with the re-introduction of wolves..although I was against it,and you guys changed my mind.. ;) What I am getting at is if the authorities and the conservation bodies are brave enough to attempt to re-introduce them, they should have the backbone to protect them by law..otherwise the wolf will be seen as fair game by all those less enlightened...it is a brave step to let wolves into areas where they are extinct..and there will be a lot of prejudice against them...it is only right to bring the full weight of the law to bear..unless people are prepared to follow through the sensationalist headlines of "wolves back in..." with commonsense..it will be a long hard road...

Very good hairybeasty.

Here in Saxony work in cooperation wolf friends, hunters (not all, but many) and farmers
for protection for wolves and sheeps, etc.(before wolves).

Also many hunters, foresters and farmers are organized in the wolf protection associations.

All the best

Trisha, did you see the one show earlier this week about re-introducing Wolves and about the man who lived with Wolves and who now looks after a pack in Devon?

"Yellowstone Battleground" is on Sky national Geo Wild at 9pm again. It's about the battle between grissly bears and wolves in Yellowstone Park. Well worth watching.

Hi Joerg (and Yoki), I can't find it on UTube. There's a trailer here at natgeotv.com/uk/yellowsto...ne-battleground

If you Google "Yellowstone battleground" then there are some dubious ways of getting it but I wouldn't recommend them.

It is being repeated again on Sunday 17th October at 2PM
