It is with very sad heart and flowing tears that I wish to say that my beautiful West is now running free in the world beyond. She was not tbe perfect show Deerie, but she was amazing in so many ways beyond looks. She was ever strong and lived to run. With me, ever so gentle and always watching over me. A true lion in the field and a gentle lamb in the home.

East and Bitty miss her too.

Run free my beautiful girl. Run free.

Sorry to hear of your loss. What age was West? There is never a good time to say goodbye to our beautiful hounds and I dread the day when it will come to us. For me, show looks are good in the ring and the dogs are often stunning, but for those who choose not to show, a gentle, loving and companiable temperament make our deeries so special in the home.
Run free West!

A heart felt thank you to everyone. East and Bitty seemed to have adjusted to the loss of West. Initially they were definately not their normal happy selfs. But now each morning starts with happy tails and morning body rubs and hugs like before.

i am still adjusting. At times I can almost see her laying in her favorite spot looking at me just as she would do.

To answer the question, West was going to be 9. Aggressive bone cancer hit her. She did not suffer and I know she is standing next to my Dad (her Gran-papa) who she just adored.

Thankfully I still have East and Bitty.
