Say, am I the last one to have a deerhound? Or a camera? I should just want to know which of either I should remember to leave by will to a museum.

Well, here are the combined efforts of camera and deerhound and the rest of his pack.

The past month I had a lot of construction work on my premises. The 60 years old drains had given up, and new drains were drawn. That gave a lot of mud.

No, the dogs did not dig that.

Take me out of here...!

But now that is done, they finished before Christmas.
Good that the rains came to work, because we had lots of rain.

We walked on the water, or so it seems.

On the way home we visited Cat Mum, here are the boys in her kitchen.

Then yesterday Cat Mum was here.

Welcome Cat Mum!

The big one smells something edible.

Surrounded..

Yes she had brought something.

I can dance!

10 days ago, there was still a deep hole here. Now walking on my lawn is posstible again.

That was my latest pictures.

Get yer deerhounds, luchers or whatever and let's see them!

Maybe some of you know that my deerhound, Penticton has a nickname: The Professor. He is curious, obstinate - and a lot more associated with being a professor.

Soo, we went on a scientific mission :woohoo:
Departure early in the morning in order to arrive at the destination on time.

Having arrived close to the destination, we walk to the target, everything beig properly investigated.

Morning dew on one of the Professor's most valued measuring instruments.

The spooky target...what is this?

Definitely needs further investigation!

The Professor starts his investigations on one of the round barrows.
This is a system of burial mounds. It consits of two long barrows, and two round barrows.
It is a big luck that this system is preserved. In the 1600 - 1700's men of importance built castles, and large stones were most welcome building materials. Back then nobody cared that these heathenish barrows were disassembled. Until a stone with a rather siimple cross was found in a nearby barrow system. Then the workers refused to disassemble the barrow, and the men of importance got cold feet, which caused a remarkable development of this regions tilework industry that should become legedaric.

The chamber being investigated.

The smaller of the long barrows.

Professor on location.

The chamber of the larger long barrow is being investigated.

The Professor after his underground investgation.

On the smaller long barrow. Appears as if the Professor is standing on the lower jaw of a big prehistoric monster

The small long barrow

While the Department for Culture Heritage has ordered all trees on private owned barrows removed immediately, trees on state owned barrows may stay intil they are ready for harvest. (Because it pays) As can be seen this has not done the larger long barrow any good.

The handsome professor..

The long barrow.

Investigations complete - we thought - so time to retreat.

The Professor is tired.

But then, a landslide has removed the parth for our retreat.

The landslide. We wanted a soil sample.

But the landslide had revealed somthing more....

A stone axe! Probably from the time where the barrows were built.

We made our retreat and searched our way back to civilisation. Unfortunately we did not meet any of the natives, they were probably shy.
We came to this desolate road.

No traffic at all.
maybe you remember the Alfred Hitchcock movie North by Nortwest, where james Steward ends up in the middle of nowhere, on a desolate road. Then a small airplane that spreads insect poison on the fields attack him. We saw no airplane, but then this thin came, would it attack us?

No, it turned the other way.

We found an emergency shelter here:

-where a label anounced an arrangement from August 2014

Not much activity here!

What do we do?

The Professor analyses signs of former life.

And this fella waits for a meal.

There is our rescue! We are safe!
This is the bus you dont want to miss. It runs once a day, only on working days.

And we were the only passengers.

Safe home!

The Professor analyses his expedition.

And I make my analysis.

The axe we found. It is a bit more than 12 cm ling, or little less than 5"

The ground sample from the landslide reveals that this is a sediment from the retreat of the ice age. Thus all particles are of the same size, basically finest dust, which supports landslides. If there had been smaller and larger stones mixed in the clay, it would have been remarkably stronger and the landslide would be more unlikely to have taken place.

Even if the small particles clot it is clear that there are no larger particles that can not be divided.

He is very special.
If we had missed that bus and thus were forced to stay over night there, we might certainly have collected furhter experiences

Not a deerhoud photo this time. I could not do this with a deerhound!

The greenhouse needed to have som glass replaced, I replace broken glass with plexiglass, because it is safer if the dogs should collide.
Before mounting a plexiglass slide, I got this idea with my little white whippet Tom.
He found it strange to walk in the air, but did not seem to mind at all.
