Coursing pictures 6 years 11 months ago #32368

This was one of my Borzoi running in Kamloops, BC...can't wait to run Zippo. I hope he enjoys it as much as all my previous dogs did. it's in his genes...so I'm hopefull.

Thanks Cassandra Here's a picture of Banrigh coursing this October at a BSFA event. I wish I could say I took it but it was actually purchased from Chris at lampypics. Here's his site www.lampypics.co.uk/
They are some excellent photos.

I used to go lure coursing in the south of England it was near Newbury. My deerhound then was not exactly promising, he stopped once to do a poo in the middle of the field.....

My Twiggy has fun and disturbs the other dogs (!!!!!) and Nanouk was only good the time of some trainings. Now, she returns towards me before the end. I am nevertheless registered with the Coursing Club : what a pleasure of seeing them all running, they like that so much! it is really an extraordinary spectacle.
These pics are those of deerhounds which come to run here, in Champagne.

Thanks for the link, Elise, (bravo Banrigh !)
pics are really grand ! SPLENDID !

and , last but not least , various pics - from deerounds watching a trial over a brace and my oldie Na'lee close to her retirement to finally young Hermione having a practice run - and not to forget the fabulous shot of a retired track greyhound , adopted by friends of mine , having fun at one of his first lure course trials ever

Love these coursing pictures. Dogs having such fun! Our gang will be giving it a go this spring. The only event I ever attended was to watch Verena's girls fly around the fields! Verena your dogs have been #1 deerhound coursers in Canada. Go on, give us the particulars here! :cheer: :)

Looking forward to joining Verena as a "participant" this year and getting some tips on how the game is played! dh:)

Re: Coursing pictures 6 years 11 months ago #32654

Thanks Shelley , it will be such fun to have more deerhounds again !!! - only 2 of mine really liked lurecoursing and did very well with it , indeed ( also when we still had good competiton still ) - the others are hit and ( more ) miss , they just prefer hunting the " real deal " to anything plastic....
I think , after this winter with so much snow and even more ice ( = less hunts ! ) Hermione would do great , she is kind of frustrated /" hungry " to do some chasing - but come April and saison start , I am not so sure....
Are you going / have you been to some trainings ? When will you start ?

Well , usually you build them up , first try for shorter straight runs on the lure - alone initially - and then slowly inroduce corners and also other dogs to run with without interference ...there are several lure coursing clubs in the Vancouver area , perhaps contact Anne Fessenden or someone who knows , lots of opportunities I think - we up here are not so lucky at the moment ....
