verenav created the topic: a wee little brag regarding lurecoursing
Well , my older girl " Na'lee " ( Bechmann's Beautiful B.C. , JC,FCHX,BiF ) has done it again , she became Canada's top lurecoursing deerhound for a 3 rd year in the row , this time with 8 dhs competing . Her approach might be " slow and steady wins the prize " meanwhile , but still, it shows her dedication and reliability on the lure . I am quite happy that she still loves it , after 6 years of taking part in trials. Na'lee was bred in Denmark by Diana Bechmann , has 2 British parents though ( Greybrows and Chapeltower ) and is a big sweetheart , whose physique doesn't suggest a big running carreer , but , she balances this out with her craziness for the plasticlure - always loved whatever plastic she could find , initially trying to eat it and finally , hooray , channeling this into following it as good and fast as she can . Otherwise she has very little preydrive , if at all , and so this is her time to hunt then and get excited - something essential to the wellbeing of a deerhound/ any hunter imo . I hope , she will continue to enjoy it in the next season , too -when she will run a few times for sure - also hope to get my puppy slowly started , the 2 " middle girls " not really being into it , they prefer the " real deal " .
I will attach a few pics in the following- the first shows her ( and me ) at the start of a trainingrun .

This now is Hermione at her very first training , 3 mths old and only her 3rd day in Canada - she has tons of preydrive and I do hope , she will always spread it eavenly between the lure and the " real deal " as I love to go to trials and meet all the lovely hounds and their humans.

I think I just have to add the following photo of a totally "different kind of coursing " , my friend Heather took it on one of our hikes a couple of years ago - I love the interaction between all 3 and the total abandon they show.

Running is fun, and they are having a great time. Hermiones brother must watch it from the sideline, he has been grounded for some days because he hurt his shoulder.
Your sorroundings are so perfect for deerhounds.

Poor Penticton , I hope , he will be fine again soon ! The photo with the 3 playing in the forest has been taken near Penticton incidentelly - and here is another one from thesurroundings of Penticton , looking out Okanagan Lake . My friend Heather and her 2 dhs live there , about 100 km south of me , and we do go on walks/hikes together regularly.

These are really amazing surroundings. Like a place to stay forever ;) It is not Scotland - your weather is probably better - but I think the landscape suits a DH well.
Little Penticton is doing better, he has no pain anymore and he walks almost normal, but he should not run too much for some days yet.
