Thanks Pho .. .. all is well here considering everything .. .. as you know I had to re home Blaize as I was unable to give her the care & attention required of a large running hound .. .. but she has a fantastic life in south wales .. .. Bheula was a different story but you cant win em all .. ..I dont ever expect to be well enough to ever own a DH again so will just have to live with the wonderful memories they gave me over the years .. .. Sending Love

Hi John, I read this and it made me think that I haven't been any photos of Bheula on here or on Facebook for ages, I do hope she is ok. Did you have a problem with her new owners? Hamish is fine, all healed up now with his foot and the fur is growing back now thank goodness! The insurance has paid up now too for both his gastroenteritis and the treatment for his foot so we are very pleased! He was given the most wonderful care at the vets and both times they got him better really quickly, they really are wonderful there! Hope you and Sandra are ok xx

Can you contact Bheula's owners and ask for an update? I know I'm not the best at giving updates after a new pup settles in.

I also wish I lived nearby so that you could enjoy a visit with East and not just have to rely on memories. Is there anyone nearby with a dearie who could stop by for a short visit? Something as simple as sharing a cup of tea while giving a much loved ear rub is magic for the soul.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe they gave her away to a rescue centre, why on earth would they do that?!!! That makes me really sad :( I just hope that she went to a lovely home and lives a very happy life with owners who love her xx

My goodness, that is terrible I would have thought you would have rights as you are the breeder. Did you have it in your puppy contract that should the dog be rehomed you must be notified first? Have you consulted with the Deerhound Club for advice? I t is very disrespectful and I mean who would not share details of a dog with its breeder that is a horrible thing to do.

As for Deerhound contact could you not go to a show and see some? I wish I lived near you, would have brought my 2 over although from your point of view probably lucky I don't live near you, sometimes they are so good then they have the mad hatter moments!

Thanks Dylan .. .. I doubt if there is a more comprehensive puppy pack than the one I produced (although it may have been copied by now as of cause they went with each pup -- -- much the same ad my health & safety sheets & reports I produced for societies) and it did state I was to be kept informed amongst other things but then friendship only matters when it serves ones own purposes when it comes to the canine world .. .. I was informed that the deerhound rehomer was crap which is why she went to the rescue centre who were aware of my wishes but I was never informed of her address .. .. sad but true .. ..

Thank you for your reply it is a very hard situation. But better to dwell on the fun years and the years of love we have with them, than the sad times. Those memories of them zooming around with that glint in their eyes and the love in their hearts

best wishes Dylan

Cant believe this series of posts regarding the Lodhainn 'A' Litter has been viewed over 103k times since I first posted it. At the time of conception this was the premier place to find out information regarding the breed with many learned people and loads of daily activity. Unfortunately some of these learned breeders who were not whiter than white themselves did not wish people to have an opinion that differed from theirs and remarks became quite spiky to say the least resulting in a fast fall away of participants. I realise the advent of media stuff like FB also had an affect and many of these people have shifted there and remain so even today. Lets hope with the world in current turmoil a more tolerant person emerges out the other side.
Here is a photo of Lodhainn Ablaize who lives a life of luxury in South Wales taken on 24th April 2020

Just a thought in case one day I go silent .. .. I must inform you that for those that dont know my health has prevented me from looking after a deerhound not for a few years. I did re home my last hound Lodhainn Ablaze to the best home ever and get mega regular updates like the photo below taken on the 6th May 2020 whilst out on a exercise only coronavirus walk. I also must announce that I was diagnosed with Alzheimers 18 months ago but luckily my family are fantastic & my doctor very caring. Thought I would post this photo of Blaize for those who like to see her and send love to you all .. .. .. remember to stay safe .. .. tours a long time dead .. .. ..

Happy 11th Birthday Lodhainn Ablaize:
Eleven years ago I was a week into sleeping in the kennel with Bird having taken 6weeks leave to care for my first litter. The bangs and flashes were all around but Bird did a great job. Just thought I'd post the latest photo I have received about the old tank. She is & always has been a star.

Happy Birthday Blaize xxxxx

Eleven years ago I started a journey by successfully mating my beautiful bitch to produce the ‘Lodhainn A Litter’.
I put many hours research into choosing the stud dog taking into account my bitches faults and also the characteristics about the dog that I liked, conformation, temperament, coat etc.
I built a kennel that was insulated, dry with sufficient heating & ventilation to be fit for a queen to whelp her litter in and took six weeks off work to ensure she had the best care I could provide.
I started sleeping in the kennel with her on the first of November and to be fair the conditions were OK. Well Bird never complained about me sharing her home.
Late into the evening on the fifth after the fireworks had died down Bird started to produce the first pup. The whelping went to plan and a few hours later we had seven lovely healthy pups. At that time there was much unrest in the deerhound world with two bleeding disorders, but I chose the bitch I was going to keep because I thought she was the pick of the litter. I did ask friends supposedly in the know for their advice but the final choice was mine.
I loved all the pup names as they all meant so much to me and the name ‘Ablaize’ has nothing to do with my role in the fire service for the odd year or two or the whelping on bonfire night.
I had seen a film about a middle aged Louisiana governor who fell in love with a young stripper called Blaze and I fell in love with the name. This would be the name of my first pup.
After 6 weeks of living 24/7 in the kennel it was time to return to work but they were well cared for when I was missing & it made home combing so much more fun.
All tests were completed & passed & relevant documents collected and I produced a ‘puppy guide’ fit for a king with as much information I could find to help the new owners care for this special litter.
I found finding homes for puppies was not too difficult but finding good homes a little harder. I was satisfied with my choices and off they went with my love.
Blaize stayed with me and joined my eldest Bouchaille & youngest Brodie.
On the 11th August 2012 Blaize herself whelped a litter that was not quite as straight forward and needed a little help from the vet but she managed to produce nine lovely pups that I was proud of.
Sadly due to my failing health I had to reheome my remaining two deerhounds Beheula & Blaize as I was unable to provide them adequate care. Blaize was fortunate to go spend her remaining days in South wales with doggy family.
I have been lucky with most of the owners as they have kept me updated with news & photos of the pups but none more than Keri with Blaize.
Sadly on 25th November 2020 Keri informed me that Blaize had taken the journey to be with her ancestors on rainbow bridge to wait for me there. I know both keri & her mom are gutted as they always loved my little girl and in fact owned her gran dam. I must place on record my thanks for the fantastic life they gave to Blaize and send by everlasting love to them. I will be eternally grateful.
When I started this journey on the Community it was such a busy site with hundreds of visits a day and dozens of comments, easy to miss stuff if you missed a day. Unfortunately arguing/bullying by the old school & the rise of facebook changed all that (although the same people try to bully newbies today).
I never thought this Lodhainn puppy theme would be so popular, I believe it has received the most views on the site with 112 thousand and over 650 replies over the eleven years.
For those that dont know my health has continued to tumble as I now also have Alzheimers. I wish you all health & happiness and send love to you all. I will leave you with a couple of the last photos of the star attraction Lodhainn Ablaize I received from Keri .. .. TC.

So sorry to read this. Blaize had a wonderful and long life firstly in your care and then in her new home. All those fabulous photos and stories we have enjoyed over the years.
Also sorry to read that your health has deteriorated further.
Thank you for all the pleasure I have had following your posts and the progress of your doggie family over many years.
With very best wishes,
Ailish
