This is a really interesting site, If you search for deerhound, you get about 26 images, including a white/fawn deerhound (difficult to tell from b/w). Definitely worth a look :)

Why do you favour this dog over others?

Hard to put my finger on it as I have never seen the dog in the flesh...but I love his outline, love his head and expression. To me he has all the attributes that make a Deerhound a Deerhound. Would love to see footage of him on the move, but I am only going by still photos and I like what I see :)

Yes he is a lovely, fast looking dog.
Interesting how his feet are much neater and more compact than the recent dogs that I've seen..

If I stripped any of my dogs feet, they would look very similar. Hair can have a deceptive look.

I doubt he has been stripped. He just has a correct coat. And lovely feet. But I don't like his topline.

I wasn't suggesting that he had been stripped only that hair on the feet can make the feet look flatter than what they are. I know that my dogs have well knuckeled feet but I don't trim the hair back (mainly to hide their nails  ) Speaking of which I did make an attempt to tidy Bree's feet up for the last show. Terry took her to the vets to get her nails trimmed (as our eyesight isn't what it used to be) and when she got home they missed one of the front nails  Not happy. My attempts at trying to primp her up fell flat as I couldn't trim her hair due to one talon. Normally I do nothing except run the brush through her but the one time I decide to go that one step further...oh well, she still made the final cut :)

I think , he could help the deerhounds of today ...- most of mine seem to have these kind of feet actually ( all but 1 , who has rather flat feet , poor hound ! ) - I am not so sure about the chest/forchest on him and the shoulders , might be the angle of the photo , also , not a big fan of those toplines either . But all over a fast and agile looking deerhound , rather sound compared to many of the show winners of today and for sure a beautiful dog .

Bear in mind that this is an unposed photograph - he'd probably look quite different if he'd been set up.

I personally prefer " natural" photographs , find , they show much better what is going on ! One just has to look at many - he is beautiful and I'd assume , his chest/shulders are fine , the pic is just not taken totally from the side

Although not a photograph, this is a lovely head study. It is in an old book I have 'Dogs and their Masters', Marion Chappell,1905
