TOPIC: Has anyone experienced this?

Has anyone experienced this? 1 year 3 months ago #43313

Our otherwise healthy 6 year old male Deerhound just had surgery - partial torsion and spleen removed, and his kidney levels are back to normal. Unfortunately, the Vet still strongly suspects another underlying issue, a bacterial infection, due to our dogs fever - it was 106 when we arrived at the Vet Clinic on Friday, and it has been going up and down (103 - normal) since. It's a mystery. I've talked to his breeders and several litter mates and no one has experienced this before. So I thought I'd ask you all - Has anyone experienced this?

Background: He became suddenly ill on Thursday night, vomiting, drinking tons of water and continued to vomit and drink tons of water the next day - We rushed him to the vet when he declined suddenly. He had a temp of 106, was in Hypovolemic shock. They ruled out Cystinuria.

How is he doing now?
I suppose your vet gives antibiotics?
I hope he is fine now.

Unfortunately, Blaze passed away yesterday morning.
We tested for Leptospirosis, but it came back negative.
It appears that with the high temp and what ever else was going on with him, his heart just gave out.

Blaze was such a huge part of our family.
I tried to post pictures but the system won't let me.
