More fun than owning a deerhound? Surely not!

TOPIC: Deerhound Date.

Deerhound Date. 6 years 3 months ago #35531

Well, today, Our two year old DH Jack met up with another forum user and her 4yr old deerhound (also their friends with a greyhound, beagle and saluki) we had a gorgeus walk across a heath and through the forest in the autumn sunshine. Was incredible to see Jack run free and play (for the first time ever-properly!) with another dog. He ran and ran and ran and seemed so happy and care free, in turn we were relaxed and at ease and enjoyed a walk without jack Vs other dog anxt! Lovely to see another DH and share advice and amusing stories. Thanks Emma for a great walk!

Hey Sophie and jack

Yes it certainly was a lovely walk it was great to see the DH's playing so well they were like they had been friends forever as soon as they meet. I'm really glad Jack had a good time and he got to run and play like dogs should. He certainly gave Jake a run for his money.

Look forward to doing it again soon

Hey Rachel and Adam!
Keyworth is very close yes, that would be great for meeting, especially to get a whole pack together (I know you have the joy of this everyday-but would be fantastic experience for Jack!) will check with Sean dates etc and we will brainstorm some cool places to meet!

at's no problem - if it helps we have a field in Tollerton where I often run our dogs and where we keep poultry (would kind of depend on how you think Jack would be with Chickens and Geese!!
One note of caution though - running different packs together can result in unexpected responses - I have 3 young bitches who will be boisterous but fine. But my older bitch and strong pack leader would not be able to run - as soon as you get more than two the pack instinct kicks in for these dogs very strongly - we've learnt a lot about this - some of which we learnt the hard way.
I can explain more when we meet
Our 7 month puppies and 20month bitch would really enjoy it though

I am struggling a bit for next two weekends as Adam is away for a week and I have shows
I am not working weds / thurs next week (half term)
