Any one here going to this show tomorrow? Both Callie and Fergal were entered but as Callie is still not 100% and both dogs have lost condition after being poorly  we are giving it a miss. If you are going have a great time.

It's not to bad now. All the main roads are clear and assume roads through Godmanchester
to Wood Green would be as well.

Thanks guys, this is a post I put up on another site on the 17th Dec.

Just a quick post to see if anyone has any ideas. Both dogs (Deerhounds) at vets, on drips, very dehydrated. Our bitch was very ill (vomit and diarrhoea) on Tuesday, straight to vets and onto drip. Our dog started showing some of the symptoms yesterday (but not as bad) so again to vets and on a drip. Vet seems to think some kind of severe gut infection. Was all very sudden, one minute fine, next boom!
I’ve since heard from friends that there may be something going around, so just asking if anyone has any ideas.

Since then Fergal has been fine, although he lost about 2kg in weight, the antis sorted him out really well and very quickly, back to being himself. Callie, however, much more severe. Back into the vets twice on to drips because she was so dehydrated, she wasn’t eating or drinking. Nothing showed up on the bloods or x-rays. We are waiting for results of some poo samples (not nice collecting those  ). Been on 2 types of anti and Pro-Kolin to help her gut flora. She has started eating again, a plain diet, and seems interested in Fergal’s food so we are hoping we have turned a corner. She has also lost about 2kgs and on her it really shows she looks like a toast rack:P . She is though much more energetic and was playing with Fergal in the snow today, the first time since this happened so, as I said, hoping she is over the worst. The vet today did say they've had a few in with tummy trouble, Callie must have got it really bad.

Oh, that sounds awful, poor dogs. Robert said they'd been ill, but I hadn't realised it was so bad. Something they ate, perhaps? Thank goodness they're both getting better.

Blimey Spring, does sound like something they have picked up, a bit like us humans I suppose. I never saw the original post, not been on here much. This happened with Murphy on 2 different occasions, the first time it was a 24 hour thing, jab in the back to stop him vomiting. The 2nd time it was something he licked on the golf course that they sprayed on the greens, but even if you had been on a golf course, they wouldn't have treated greens since it got very frosty. They didn't drink anything nasty did they? seems funny how they were both struck down with it.

It would seem to be something they (or one of them) picked up and the other got it from there. I think Callie
got it first because she really was very ill and we were really quite worried, she's not the biggest girl at the best of times and losing 2kg is a huge amount for her. I think we were lucky with Fergal because as soon as we noticed
he was not himself it was right to the vet and onto the drip.
Callie has eaten a 'bigger' meal tonight (still not up to her right amount, and small amounts at a time)
and wanted more, but we are being very careful with the amounts until she can manage her meals as before.
Thank you all for your kind words.

JUst a quick heads up. Callie is now back to her normal self eating and being a madame. We now need to get the weight back on, she still looks like a toast rack:laugh:
It does seem that she had a very severe GI invection.
Thank you all for your kind wishes,

Thanks for the update - I was getting worried about her. Her evil sister Dileas is nicking cat food as I type, as a reminder to the staff that she would like her dinner now, please.
