Just a quick post to see if anyone has any ideas. Both dogs (Deerhounds) at vets, on drips, very dehydrated. Our bitch was very ill (vomit and diarrhoea) on Tuesday, straight to vets and onto drip. Our dog started showing some of the symptoms yesterday (but not as bad) so again to vets and on a drip. Vet seems to think some kind of severe gut infection. Was all very sudden, one minute fine, next boom!
I’ve since heard from friends that there may be something going around, so just asking if anyone has any ideas.
Since then Fergal has been fine, although he lost about 2kg in weight, the antis sorted him out really well and very quickly, back to being himself. Callie, however, much more severe. Back into the vets twice on to drips because she was so dehydrated, she wasn’t eating or drinking. Nothing showed up on the bloods or x-rays. We are waiting for results of some poo samples (not nice collecting those

got it first because she really was very ill and we were really quite worried, she's not the biggest girl at the best of times and losing 2kg is a huge amount for her. I think we were lucky with Fergal because as soon as we noticed
he was not himself it was right to the vet and onto the drip.
Callie has eaten a 'bigger' meal tonight (still not up to her right amount, and small amounts at a time)
and wanted more, but we are being very careful with the amounts until she can manage her meals as before.
Thank you all for your kind words.
