Dela - if there is anything we can do to help just ask. You must be so worried. We are thinking of you.

:woohoo:

Not so good.

I hope they haven't been nappied as one would expect them to be house trained by now.

Hopefully though, they will return or be found and returned. Assume collars, tags and microchips.

Must be quite a trauma, do let us know how it works out.

How dreadful for you. I do hope they will be found soon. Assuming you have also contacted the various lost dog sites. What about the local paper? Anything is worth a try. Good luck

Hopefully they are back by now!!! I would also put up many flyers with their pictures, offering a good reward- this so often gets the attention of people. Big dogs like ours can not be overlooked so easily should they pop up in someone's neighbourhood. We'll be crossing all our fingers and wait for good news from you!

Re: Deerhounds gone missing 6 years 2 weeks ago #36273

Stupid thing to state the obvious but they generally tend to go to places they like going, ie the park etc. Murphy has escaped twice and has been found on his way back from the park, or lying outside someones house down our road where they too have dogs (not that he likes these dogs!)
When my Greyhound went missing, I phoned all the usual dog warden/council etc and was told she had been taken to Battersea. She hadn't, I found out, after a Friday afternoon drive to Battersea (very nice it was there) They usually board them at the local boarding kennels and our Meg was at one 2 roads away. Strangest thing is, my husband was teaching a kennel lad there to drive at the time and didn't even mention to him that she had been missing, or he might have said they had taken a Greyhound in that day.
I do hope they are back now, it does seem a long time for them to just be having a wander, I would have thought they'd just come home when they got bored or missed you.

Dela was the dog gate broken through meddling by someone or did it just fall apart? If it's the latter, then I'd say your pups went for a romp, but if someone has smashed the latch or some such, well that's another matter. Very sorry for your news. In my experience people have gone out of their way to return my dogs to me - when they see something as glorious as a deerhound they know straight off that the creature is cherished by someone. Most people are decent and kind-hearted and will do the right thing.

Dela, I am so horrified to have just heard about this, I am free tomorrow (friday) - is there anywhere you would like us to check since we are relatively close by, I am happy to go walking anywhere where you may think they could be? Have you checked with your local farmers since they may go after sheep, (mine certainly would if they got out.) Please let me know if there is anything practical we can do to help, my heart goes out to you, can't think of much worse than losing a beloved hound and not knowing where they are.

Re: Deerhounds gone missing 6 years 2 weeks ago #36282

one of the hints on the dogslost site is to notify the microchip company as well- presumably so they are alert should a chip number be scanned? Anyway it's another avenue. I do so hope to read good news of them soon.
