Hi Conny,

Here is link to a web site in German about kennel cough.

Link: www.zwingerhusten.de/

I think it is not only kennel cough and it is better you contact a vet.

Hope for a fast recovery of your Seci.

Regards

Poor Seci!

Please follow the advise of your vet and like Joerg suggests have the vet take another look; or, at least phone the vet to see if there needs to be an adjustment to treatment..

May Seci feel better soon and congrats on BOB at his first show!

Seci is going to the vet at least 3 times a week, they are controlling his respiratory.....My vet said that we have to be patient......I think we are but 3 weeks.....This disease is caused by a bacterium and the body has to go through the disease.......I was just hoping that someone has a "wonder" treatment for us......
Thanks for the answers

Not a wonder treatment. However, coconut oil has anti bacterial, fungal, and viral properties and is also anti inflammatory. I have used it sucessfully on my girls wounds, skin rashes, and ear infections as well as given them a bit in their kibble (1/2 tablespoon). Coconut oil will not help fight all infections because it will depend on the cellular structure and nature on the infecting critter. What's nice about coconut oil is that it won't hurt and it might help.

I'm also currently looking into olive leaf extract or just plain olive leaf as a standby anti bacterial, fungal, parasite and viral for the girls. I've started taking it for a chronic magor sinus infection (thick yellow goo) that I could not get rid of for months and it cleared everything up nice and quick. Some use it for dogs; but, I've yet to fully research this out or try it yet with my girls. So do take care on this.

Please take a look at some of the information and medical studies on line regarding coconut oil and olive leaf and see if there's anything of interest for you. Again. Not a "wonder" treatment. Just a pointer to some information to review and consider in addition to your vet's care.

so sorry to hear this - one of mine had KC about 3 years ago and it is nasty.

Have you thought about giving some warm Manuka honey. It soothes and is a good anti bacterial.

Hope he gets better soon dh:)

I have read that kennel cough can take 3 weeks before there is much improvement. I sounds as if Seci has had a really bad dose. Also I read that items that the dog has been in contact with ie. toys and bowls and even their human's clothes can transmit the disease for several weeks after that in extreme cases. When one of mine had it a few years ago it was only a very mild compared to poor Seci.
I'm glad he is on the mend.

I hope that Seci is continuing to get better. If you could be so kind to let me know how the Manufa Honey helps out, then all would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Years ago my vet told me to give my border collie 'child benalyn' as he had a hacking cough. I have repeated this on a number of occasions with success in the following years :)

Hi Cornelia,

I am really glad to read he is feeling better. the kennel cough can be very dangerous for our hounds. Maybe it is a good thing to keep the Manouka Honey in mind. Thank you for this information.

So pleased that he is better. I swear by active Manuka honey and always have some in the house. I put it on any wounds they have or just give it to them off a spoon as an occasional treat.
